Training & Simulation - The frontline of modern training
Saab delivers training solutions tailored to your specific needs, with realistic exercises in both open and urban terrain. Our training covers everything from individual and combined arms at the platoon level to joint operations at the brigade combat team level.
As your comprehensive training partner, our goal is to enhance performance and maximize equipment availability. To achieve this, we provide a wide range of services, from training needs analysis to global logistics support, live and virtual training, and LVC integration solutions that support every phase of your training cycle.
With adaptable systems designed for accuracy down to the smallest detail, we ensure the best possible preparation for soldiers and officers deploying on real-world operations where lives are at stake. We recognize that training is not only about improving skills, but also about ensuring mission success.
Ground Combat Indoor Trainer
Modular and scalable, our Ground Combat Indoor Trainer (GC IDT) offers multiple configurations that cover a wide range of weapon systems, including realistic small arms, support weapons, and anti-tank weapons. Highly durable replica weapons, like virtual simulator, and exceptional accuracy combine to deliver a highly immersive training experience.
For procedural memory training, the system enables repetitive drills with adjustable variables to optimize learning. By engaging both procedural and declarative memory, soldiers can practice decision-making in combat scenarios, compare the outcomes of different choices, and receive immediate correction where needed.
GC IDT also simulates humans and vehicles as targets, each with different protection levels and reactions when hit. This adds a tactical dimension to decision-making, including aiming, target prioritization, and choices about re-engagement.
We also provide OEM-certified trainers for Carl-Gustaf®, AT4, and NLAW, which fully replicate the customer’s configuration, including sighting systems and ammunition types. The feedback and after-action review (AAR) are tailored to each weapon type, ensuring training is as efficient and effective as possible. Feedback is categorized into three areas: weapon data, performance, and results.
Built-in sensors continuously monitor weapon status, providing detailed insights into handling both before and during firing. Performance evaluations are based on multiple user-defined parameters, producing scoring that supports precise assessment and skill development.
Live Training
Realistic training, followed by immediate feedback is the best way to prepare for the real mission. Training experience leads to quick, correct decision making in real situations, saving lives at risk. We provide solutions that suit your precise needs with realistic exercises in both open and urban terrain, from individual and combined arms at platoon level, to joint operations at brigade combat team level.
Saab’s Combat Training Centres (CTC) combined with its live training simulator systems provide everything needed for swift analysis and evaluation of soldier skills and tactical behaviour. The system is modular and scalable to support realistic training in any environment and for all exercises and levels – from individual up to and beyond brigade combat team level. The live training includes urban operations,
gunnery training, combat support, C-IED, medical, CBRN, and integration of Live, Virtual and Constructive training.
Over 35 nations use Saab's interoperable GAMER live training system, which combines laser and geometric coupling technology. Its unique BT46 two-track laser accurately simulates ammunition speed, flight time, and trajectory, making it the world’s most realistic laser-based training system.
The underwater advantage
In the strategically vital and increasingly contested Baltic Sea, the protection of underwater infrastructure is critical. Saab draws on decades of experience in underwater operations and technology to support situational awareness, resilience, and rapid response. With proven expertise in complex maritime environments, Saab enables nations to secure critical assets beneath the surface and strengthen their maritime defence readiness.
Sabertooth - Powerful and versatile
Sabertooth is a very powerful and lightweight platform for inspection, maintenance and repair IMR, capable of operating at depths of up to 3,000 metres, making it ideal for seabed investigations. Its compact, tether-free design and exceptional manoeuvrability enable safe access to complex structures. This makes Sabertooth ideal for offshore surveys and autonomous IMR of subsea installations and tunnels.
Did you know?
- The Sabertooth system has been demonstrated at NASA´s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL). As part of a symposium, Sabertooth was unleashed in the NBL’s massive 23.5-million-litre tank in Houston, Texas
- With Sabertooth, the user can access installations that cannot be reached with ships due to ice or weather conditions
- Sabertooth is subsea resident. A Subsea Docking Station is used for parking and operating the vehicle under water for a longer time
Double Eagle Family - With safety in mind
The Double Eagle Family ensures safe, cost-efficient and reliable naval mine countermeasures operations. Double Eagle SAROV can be used as an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle AUV for detection, classification and identification, while also operating as a Remotely Operated Vehicle ROV for mine disposal. Complementing this, the Double Eagle MuMNS is a highly effective and versatile mine neutralisation system that significantly increases operational tempo. The underwater systems can be launched from any type of ship, from the shore or from a suitable vehicle.
Did you know?
- The “Double” in Double Eagle comes from double hull as the vehicle’s predecessor had only one hull
- Thousands of mines have been disposed by Double Eagles over the years
- The rotor magnets in the thrusters are matched to get lowest possible magnetic signature
Sea Wasp - Safety within reach
Sea Wasp is a compact, remotely operated vehicle for the detection and neutralisation of underwater improvised explosive devices. Deployable from shore or small boats, it enables safe operations in confined environments like ports. Equipped with advanced sonar, cameras and a manipulator arm, it ensures precise threat handling. As asymmetric threats increase, Sea Wasp offers vital protection without putting personnel at risk.
Did you know?
- Sea Wasp is another name for the Box Jellyfish, the most venomous animal in the sea
- Sea Wasp is able to engage targets above the waterline because of its powerful thrusters
- The Sea Wasp controller can hover the vehicle by just letting go of the controls
Saab Lightweight Torpedo - Adapted for the modern warfare
The Saab Lightweight Torpedo SLWT is an advanced antisubmarine warfare solution designed to provide complete control in challenging environments. It is engineered to operate effectively in both shallow and deep waters, as well as under varying conditions. Capable of both fire-andforget and wire-guided modes, the SLWT allows operators to manually steer the torpedo through narrow straits and complex underwater terrain when necessary. Launchable from multiple platforms, it ensures mission success in any environment.
Did you know?
- The lightweight torpedo utilizes acoustic reflections to sense the prescence of underwater objects, much like whales do
- The internal lithium based storage battery contains more energy than the explosive warhead does
- A torpedo can be monitored and controlled from a distance of several kilometers via a thin copper wire
Surface Vessels
The Baltic Sea is one of the world’s most demanding maritime environments. With shallow waters averaging only 70 meters, complex layers of fresh and salt water, and over 60,000 undetonated mines from two world wars, operating here requires specialized vessels and deep expertise. Saab has decades of experience designing and delivering surface ships and boats tailored to these conditions, combining stealth, speed, maneuverability, and shock resistance. Our platforms are built to master the unique challenges of the Baltic Sea and are trusted by navies worldwide.
Littoral Mission Vessel - Reliable with multi-purpose capabilities
The Littoral Mission Vessel LMV is a cutting-edge naval platform designed for rapid deployment across a wide range of maritime operations. Its modular systems and advanced combat capabilities enable it to adapt quickly to evolving mission demands, making it a critical asset for protecting vital sea lines of communication. Built using a hybrid-construction method that merg-es a durable steel hull with a lightweight composite superstructure, the LMV achieves an optimal blend of strength, agility, and operational efficiency. This innovative approach not only reduces construction costs but also enhances mission versatility, ensuring the vessel remains a powerful and reliable compo-nent of modern naval forces.
