EHAK 2026: Hic sunt dracones. Humanitarian worlds
Starting in 2024, Estonian humanitarians have their forum for joint discussion and critical introspection – the Estonian Humanities Annual Conference. The next annual conference will occur from 8 to 10 April 2026 in Tartu, at the Estonian National Museum and the University of Tartu.
We invite all Estonian humanities scholars to share their thoughts and research results!
We ask:
-
What kind of world does a humanitarian live in? How does he feel there?
-
What is new in the world of the humanities? Where are the boundaries of the world of the humanities?
-
What are the other worlds that the humanities interact with? How?
-
Who lives in several worlds at once, who between worlds, who outside the world? What are the margins, transitions, and fringes that border the world?
-
We're taking a trip around the world. Is the end of the world possible?
-
Is the world of the humanities bigger than what is usually considered the world?
-
What are the different worldviews and understandings of the world, worlds of fantasy, thought and feeling?
-
What does the humanities offer to society? What is the value of the humanities in this world?
The conference plenary speakers are Ester Oras (University of Tartu), Kristi Viiding (Under and Tuglas Literary Centre) and Jaak Tomberg (University of Tartu).
