We have the pleasure to invite you to the 28th Congress of the International Society for Sandplay Therapy (ISST). The Congress will be held at The Anvaya Beach Resort Bali. Set along the shores of Bali, this beautiful island offers a special place for reflection, connection, and encounter. In Balinese cosmology, the visible world (Sekala) and the invisible world (Niskala) are integrated realities, dimensions of a shared mysterium.
We approach Bali’s mystery with reverence, exploring our calling within her dynamic balance of opposing forces. We are welcomed by the serenity and initiatory force of her beauty, her mountains, oceans, sands, temples, stories, and sacred traditions. Here, the sacred is woven into the landscape and daily life, offering a profound setting for exploring the Living Psyche.
The 2027 Congress explores Sandplay as a therapeutic process through which image and symbol allow the conscious and unconscious, the known and unknown, matter and mystery, to meet. There will be seminars, case presentations, experiential workshops, and opportunities for dialogue, reflection, networking, and play, exploring the Living Psyche across cultures and generations.
Bali holds a profound echo of Kalff’s reverence for the Living Psyche. In a culture where ritual, nature, community, and the sacred remain woven into everyday life, Bali invites us to remember that the psyche is not separate from the world in which we live. We will gather therapists, teachers, researchers, students, and friends of Sandplay from around the world, honoring the passion that continues to nourish our field and strengthen our bond across cultures and communities.
